Ukrainian painter and graphic artist.
Born in Kyiv, in 1962, Oleksii Apollonov studied at the studio of the eminent master of the Ukrainian Modernism, Viktor Zaretskyi. Oleksii graduated from the Ukrainian Academy of Art (National Academy of Visual Arts and Architecture), Monumental Painting at the studio of Viktor Shatalin.
His art is notable for a rich variety of genres and styles. The artist experimented with color being under influence of the Fauvists. The central place in his art is occupied by the Biblical motives.
Oleksii Apollonov is one of the founders and members of the ‘Synii Zhovten’ (‘Blue October’) artistic group.
In his attitude to art, the painter emphasizes the importance of surprise, interest in the world around and all its colorful diversity, excitement from the work process.
The landscapes of Oleksii the most often express the yearning of the author for the sea.
Oleksii Apollonov lives and works in Kyiv.
